Hussain Sagar is a heart-shaped lake in Hyderabad, Telangana, built by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1563. This lake connects two parts of the city Secunderabad and Hyderabad to each other. Also renowned as Asia’s largest artificial lake, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions.
The origin of Hussain Sagar Lake dates back to 1562 when it was built on the tributary of river Musi by Sufi Saint Hussain Shah. The lake was built to meet the water and irrigation requirements of the city.
Hussain Sagar is one of the iconic places in Hyderabad and is well connected by all major means of public transport. It has a spectacular view in the night and you can go near the statue via steamer or cruise which starts from 50 rs to 200 rs. It’s a must-visit place in Hyderabad.
A monolithic Buddha statue, which is 16 meters tall and weighs 350 tonnes (approx.) was installed in the middle of the Hussain Sagar Lake, which is brilliantly silhouetted against the sunset. It is entirely made of white granite and finds a place among the tallest statues of the world.
The changing colours of the Budha statue according to the lights is the most fascinating view. This makes the centre of Hyderabad look most beautiful at night. It is the place of the major attraction and a very peaceful site during sunset and sunrise.
The water of the lake imparts a pleasant atmosphere, which is ideal for boating and a pleasurable evening sojourn. It’s a perfect place for some leisure and fun!
